Effective Fox Guards

Recent lambing times have seen many of our alpacas go out to nearby farms on Fox Guard duty.

Now, as everyone knows, Farmers are noted (a) for being sceptical about almost everything; and (b) for being notoriously difficult to persuade that any 'new' idea (=not a local practice for the past 200 years!) can be any good!

But the word is clearly spreading, even through this very traditional field, and if, as the old addage insists, the proof of the pudding really is in the eating, and past clients are coming back for more, what else need we say?

The Alpaca, after all, has been farmed across the World for well in excess of 2,000 years; so that nobody really need feel that they are kicking over the traces and adopting some wild new policy by having a few on their patch.

Mr Fox, as we all also know only too well, does not take prisoners; and his (or perhaps more often, his wife's) visits to the lambing field can prove both upsetting and expensive.

Some fairly feisty Alpacas, excellent for this job, are expected to be available for the 2021 lambing time; but with increasing demand booking well in advance is recommended.

So, if you or anyone you know are/is experiencing or anticipating a problem with lamb predation, do get in touch with us (015396 21246, preferably after dark) as soon as ever you can.

Meantime, we wish all our Farmer friends a healthy, successful and trouble-free lambing time, when it comes.
